Home Ancient Olympia Maps/Getting here By Car (various routes) From Athens

postheadericon By Car from Athens

Driving to Olympia by car is probably the easiest way to get here.
There are three (3) routes available if your starting point is Athens.

The first is via Patras (331km). This is the road used by most travelers because it is close to the sea and you have some very beautiful imagery throughout the journey. All you have to choose is the direction of Patras, then follow on to Pyrgos, and then Olympia.

The second one is via Tripoli (296km). This route will take you pass the Artemisio tunnel, and Tripoli, continue towards Kalamata. This trip is demanding from tripolis to Allagi where you turn right towards Kyparissia. When you get to Kalo Nero you turn right and then follow the signs to Olympia.

The third route is via Tripoli again (280km). This route will take you through the mountains of Korinthia, through Artemisio tunnel. After the tunnel look for the sign to the right for Ancient Olympia and follow the road through the mountains of Arkadia. This trip is more demanding as there are more twists and turns to the road, but it is definitely a very wild and beautiful road to travel.
